Lakewood, OH (PRWEB) September 29, 2009

Gerald (Jerry) Smith says, “Some of the most beautiful art in the world is found in works of glass”. Jerry says his aim is to show this beauty to as many people as possible in the space and time he has available on http://www.craftingglass.com. So to help spread the knowledge and appreciation of glass art he is enhancing the Crafting Glass web site by adding a feature article each month about a special glass artist: “A glass artist of the month”. The artists chosen will each work in one or more of the following categories: Glass blowing, fused glass, stained glass, etched (or carved) glass, dichroic glass, and glass beads. Jerry has several recognized artists in mind for the first few articles. He is asking that any artist interested in appearing on the web site contact him and be willing to make available to the web site articles or videos they have made. New artists in the glass arts are also welcome to apply for inclusion.

Crafting Glass first appeared on the web in July of 1998, so Jerry celebrated his first full year of internet success in August. Views of the site are increasing each month and are expected to reach over three thousand unique individual visitors per month soon. The web site also gives a viewer a glass glossary (or index of glass terms) a resource more complete than usually found on other glass related websites (see http://www.craftingglass.com/category/glossary). Although they don’t fit in the field of “art glass”, ordinary glass windows (buying, installation, and repair/maintenance) are often covered on Crafting Glass as well as the decorative glass objects. One unique feature of http://www.craftingglass.com is the purposeful lack of advertising on the site. Although there may be some limited advertising here in the future Jerry chose to avoid advertising and “spam” while building the web pages.

Jerry invites everyone who loves beautiful glass in all its many and varied forms to come and visit soon. He says “constructive suggestions and comments are welcome”, “visit soon and often”.

(PRWEB) December 2, 2004

In a world of cheap imports and high competition, glass artists constantly struggle with the question of art versus production. Career artists frequently sacrifice the quality of their art in order to be able to make a living. A new company, MaestroGlass.com, has emerged which revives the uniqueness and beauty that art glass has to offer. MaestroGlass.com is a collaboration of glass blowers who create quality high-end products which are extraordinary to behold.

If you see any of Maestro Glass’s products, you will know you are looking at something original and unique. With all the vibrant colors of glass at their disposal, there is no shortage of inspiration. It could be a pendant with a blooming flower somehow trapped inside, a necklace made with intricate dazzling glass beads, a stylistic perfume bottle, an exquisite goblet, or hand-blown iridescent Christmas ornaments. They even use specks of gold and silver to enhance the vivid colors and trap small opalescent shapes inside glass objects.

They now offer their designs to retail customers online who can purchase using a credit card on their secure site. For the person who wants to wear something that is a true eye-catcher, check out their unique line of jewelry at http://www.MaestroGlass.com.

They also offer their products at wholesale prices to art galleries, museums, high-end fashion shops and the like. For a minimum order of $ 500.00, a customer has the option to receive a free 6-foot glass and wood display.

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) July 8, 2004

The Business Club of Montgomery will host a unique event in American auction history. For the first time, a major Art Glass auction will be broadcast remotely using 21st century wireless technology. A remote satellite-dish uplink will be combined with a live viewing audience to usher the proceedings from Cincinnati, Ohio into thousands of homes globally.

The high-speed broadcast will debut on July 25th from CatBecca.com’s uplink van, setting new technical efficiency, and audience-depth standards in auctioneering for years to come. This remarkable sale includes 135 Contemporary Art Glass treasures from the personal collection of Steven and Ola Lundberg. These include the fabled “lost” Lundberg Crate, mislaid en route to the 2002 Road Show in Atlantic City. Each of these rare items includes a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by Steven Lundberg. Among the collection are five signed Sketch 1/1 items, each the only one of their kind in the world.

Steven Lundberg can be considered the father of the Contemporary American Art Glass revival. Working as Nouveau Glass in 1972, Steven and his brother James moved to Davenport, CA in 1973, and Lundberg Studios was born. Following the tragic death of James in 1992, Steven ran the firm until 1997, when he, his wife Ola, and son Justin founded Steven Lundberg Glass Art Co. Between 1997 and 2002, Steven was diagnosed with ALS, but continued to create and develop his craft.

In 2003, the firm moved to Oregon, and Master Glass Blower, Steven Lundberg put down his blow pipe for the very last time. His work is so highly regarded that it is prominently displayed in the Smithsonian Institute, the Corning Museum of Glass, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Philadelphia Museum, the Museum of American Glass, and the White House. As the family has stated, these will be the last private items released, and thus the likely last opportunity to buy a personal family item created from the genius, dedication, and passion of Steven Lundberg.

To further celebrate this maiden remote uplinked auction, CatBecca.com also brings to Cincinnati, 70 magnificent museum-quality pieces of Late Victorian Dugan Art Glass, representing one of the largest dedicated collections to be sold in years. The Jim Masterson collection is comprised of a number of different hand-blown patterns, including the full spectrum of Dugan’s colors. Complete sets include:

Coinspot Celery vases- 4 colors

Stippled Estate vases – 5 colors

Rose Bowls – 5 colors

Double Gourd vases – 4 colors

The variety of this offering is second to none, and includes 2 pieces in the rare Cranberry color, 8 pieces in the Rare Cobalt Blue color, and many patterns later made in Carnival Glass, such as Stippled Estate and Honeycomb. Created in 1905 and heavily advertised in 1906, Dugan’s blown and iridized Art Glass took a basic form. The glass was twisted and contorted into dozens of different shapes, then immersed in colored frit, resulting in a gorgeous, innovative glass of almost infinite variety. Dugan’s Art Glass quality is so excellent that it was, and still is often mistaken for Loetz, or another prime Bohemian manufacturer of expensive, Victorian Period Art Glass.

This event is co-sponsored by CatBecca.com’s newest drop off center to be located in Cincinnati soon. Gary Wilson, the owner & auctioneer, is adding a significant, and marvelous group of diverse American, European and Victorian Art Glass Jewels. This spectacular collection of 100 items includes treasures by Daum Nancy, Durand, Imperial Free Hand, and a Tiffany. It also includes a stunning group of rare and collectible Victorian Glass Baskets. Gary Wilson is a well known art glass buyer in the Cincinnati area.

Come and join CatBecca.com on July 25th to celebrate a magnificent auction, and a piece of history! Catalogs online at http://www.catbecca.com .

Question by cottonlily84: Any tips for stained glass art?
I want to learn to do stained glass art and I’m starting to research it. One thing I don’t quite understand is if most crafters buy pre-colored glass, create their own (with chemicals) or paint their glass. I’m also looking for more info on framing the glass as an actual window as opposed to framing for hanging.

Best answer:

Answer by Ken B
Most people buy art glass, which is colored all the way through. I think you would be unhappy with the painted on stuff. Here is a website that will give you some tips on getting started. It is a great hobby.

Jackson, MO (PRWEB) October 10, 2009

Becky Whitener has always been fascinated by the imaginative mind and self discipline that’s necessary to create the artwork of hand-blown glass. From the first time she witnessed an artist at work, carefully shaping the malleable medium into what would become an elaborately decorative piece of work, she was mesmerized by the bright colors and delicately intricate design. In an effort to transform her passion for art – specifically hand-blown glass – into a prosperous online business that would spread the love and appreciation of the craft, she created http://www.HouseOfGlassArt.com.

When browsing Whitener’s Web site customers can skim through the vast assortment of hand-blown glass items available for purchase. Varieties of figurines, lamps and chandeliers, perfume bottles, ornaments, platters and bowls, vases, sculptures and vessel sinks have been handcrafted by a group of elite, professional glass artists. Shoppers will be pleased to know that they can place a custom order, designed specifically to meet the appropriate measurements and colors for their home.

Launched in September of 2009, Whitener boasts that her business is geared toward the patron and focuses on meeting the needs of each customer. Every artist that she works with is located within the United States and provides an abundance of handcrafted glass art to contribute to her customized and classy Web site.

Be sure to visit Whitener’s newly implemented blog, http://www.SpeakingOfGlassArt.com, to read about the proper installation of certain pieces – like the sinks and chandeliers – and specialty techniques used by the artists such as 24-karat gold layering. She will also discuss the basics of glass blowing.

Hospitality Art Chandelier Lighting Installations Increases

Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 14, 2011

Known for their vast selection of hand blown glass art from around the world, increased demand for new and deferred residential and commercial renovations projects has led 1020 Glass Art to seek out new domestic artists and glass art houses to feature at their flagship location in Downtown Austin’s 2nd Street District. The stronger economy has revived consumer confidence, new construction, and long dormant projects aimed to more luxury glass art chandelier lighting and premium sculptures accenting homes, commercial and hospitality installations.

Always seeking to provide inspired, original glass-work to both customers and interior designers alike, 1020 Glass Art (http://www.1020glassart.com) has succeeded in their nationwide search and added many new product lines to both their on-line and in-store selections.

This spring 1020 Glass art has added beautiful bowls and sculptures from Vitrix Glass; stunning hearts, crosses, and stars from Luke Adams; elegant bowls and platters from Hudson Beach Glass; splendidly detailed vases and urns from Art of Fire; intricate, recycled glass bowls from Engler Glass; and show-stopping sculptures of incredible design and craftsmanship from Austin Art Fair’s Best in Show Recipient Infinity Art Glass.

Additionally, 1020 Glass Art has been hard at work searching for new lines of hand blown glass chandeliers to complement their existing line of nova bloom and cascade glass art. To meet the demand of their customers, 1020 is pleased to introduce two new chandelier lines of timeless quality and style.

About our new Glass Art Chandelier Collections:

Venetian Chandeliers: Gorgeous old-world design combined with American charm and sensibility, 1020 Glass Art’s new Venetian glass art chandelier (Murano inspired lighting) line comes in a variety of styles and eye-pleasing colors. Whether you are looking to make a dramatic statement, or simply looking for that elegant final touch to complete your home, 1020 Glass Art has a Venetian chandelier tailored to fit your lighting needs.

Andrew Brott Art Glass Chandeliers: After twenty six years of work, Andrew has developed a style of design and execution based on creation and death, life and decay, destruction and erosion. Andrew’s designs are always changing and evolving to fulfill different purposes, thus creating a natural and living aesthetic. Andrew’s glass art chandeliers and lighting are inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, uniting aesthetic and structural elements into a unified whole with breath taking craftsmanship and premium art lighting design.

About our new American Artists and Glass Houses:

Art of Fire: Located in a renovated dairy barn in Montgomery, Maryland, the five different glass blowers at Art of Fire perform each step of the glass making process themselves. No molds are used in their free blown, off-hand technique. Each unique piece is a product of years of experience and expertise.

Vitrix Glass: Passionate about bringing craft and design together to give each piece its own character, master glassblower Thomas P. Kelly trained under Thomas Buechner III in Corning, New York. The work of Vitrix Glass Studio has been collected, exhibited and published internationally and can be found in galleries across the U.S., Europe, and Japan.

Luke Adams Glass: Luke Adams is a studio glass artist working in Norwood, Massachusetts. L.A. Glass is known for its vivid, wild colors and simple, beautiful shapes.

Engler Glass: Each Engler piece is designed and made by Dylan and Amy Engler in Columbus, Ohio using flame working, kiln forming and cold working techniques. In the past year Dylan and Amy have won six awards for their newest work including first place and best in show.

Hudson Beach: Established in 1987 in an old ice factory, Hudson Beach glass is hand cast with a characteristic chill wrinkle. Hudson Beach Glass is made with found-object molds and textured materials. Available in either a semi-translucent or opaque finish, Hudson Beach’s glass comes in a variety of colors inspired by precious stones.

Infinity Art Glass: The perfect marriage of both art and science, Scott Hartley’s intricate blown glass is made from a furnace that runs 24 hours a day, 365 days per year near Kansas City, Missouri. Scott pours himself into his work and makes designs of all colors and sizes in paperweights, sculptures, fish, and much more.

Located in Austin, Texas, 1020 Glass Art is delighted to feature these new American artists and continues to search out more high-caliber artisans from this country and around the globe.

Question by virgo: Hand blown glass art.?
Step by step. What’s the best way to start beads then pendants, then sculptures, vases? What’s your opinion?

Best answer:

Answer by mike1942f
If you are asking how to start each of those, there a book covering the topics. If you are asking if that sequence of learning is the best, then one has to point out that the first three are more likely to be done with a torch while vases and most sculptures are more like done with furnace glass (which is what I do http://users.ticnet.com/mikefirth/what-can.htm
I see you have another question on what is the best torch, which makes it likely you want to start that way. Torch work is much less costly to set up and requires less space. Although some large pieces have been done with hand worked torches, most torch work is on a small scale by those who prefer detail. Furnace work mostly begins about the size of the largest common torch worked pieces and goes up from there.

What do you think? Answer below!

Jewelry is a popular accessory amongst women and men. There are a wide variety of styles of jewelry such as sterling silver, gold, wired, beaded and many others. There is one form that is finely hand-crafted and amongst some of the most admired jewelry. This type of jewelry is known as hand blown glass jewelry.

Hand blown glass jewelry is often handcrafted from talented jewelry artisans. The beads are created from small bits of glass that are blown and fused together. One type of glass jewelry is sea glass jewelry . The jewelry is actually created from small bits of glass that have been reclaimed from the sea. Another word for sea glass jewelry is also beach glass jewelry. One can purchase sea glass jewelry in bracelet, ring or necklace form. A sea glass ring may be created with razor reef and sterling silver. When you purchase a ring, it can be customized to fit to the size that you need. Sea glass necklaces have been derived from frosted sea glass shards. These can often be purchased online. Sea glass bracelets are made with plenty of silver-work and also sea glass shards too.

Since most glass jewelry does not usually include any fancy diamonds, you will find that it is more affordable. Glass jewelry can be a better option for those on a limited budget. While it may be more affordable, hand blown glass jewelry can be truly appreciated because of the time and effort it took for an artisan to create it.

Some glass jewelry artisans work from their home or personal studios to create the fine pieces of glass art. They have special jewelry tools and equipment to create the hand-blown glass accessories. It takes time and training to learn the skills of hand-blowing the glass beads. Artisans may sell their glass jewelry wares in their own personal stores, arts and crafts festivals or even online via their website or craft websites.

If you are looking for a special and unique item as an heirloom to pass down, hand-blown glass jewelry can make a terrific option. With something that has been so delicately handmade by an individual, the true artwork of the glass jewelry can be appreciated by everyone in the family. You can purchase a bracelet, necklace or earrings that have hand-blown glass beads and pass them as a gift for graduation, a milestone birthday, wedding or even a new birth. Each bead is unique, and most pieces of glass jewelry will not be the same.

<a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link/4776280']);” href=”http://www.handblownglassplus.com”>Hand-blown glass jewelry</a> is often not reproduced in factory lines or created for retail stores. Glass jewelry is designed by artisans and are unique designs. You might also consider glass jewelry to accessorize an outfit for a special occasion such as a prom, wedding or even an anniversary date. Since most hand blown glass jewelry is unique, you might be able to ask an artisan to personalize it with certain special colors so that it can match your special wardrobe.

Glass jewelry can be more special than any diamond ring or tennis bracelet that you might buy from a jewelry store. While these types of jewelry are pretty and sparkly, a handcrafted piece is unique and something that you won’t always find anywhere else.
